Lucy’s Corsetry Timeline

Corset Highlights Through the Years

  1. Made my first pseudo-corset from a longline bra, to go under a Halloween costume (a Victorian Mourning gown)

  2. Made my first genuine steel-boned corset (using Simplicity pattern 9769)

  3. Uploaded my first YouTube video, and started sharing corset-making tutorials for free

  4. After overwhelming demand, started taking limited custom corset commissions at discounted “intern pricing” (do not recommend; it’s a recipe for burnout)

  5. Launched lucycorsetry.com

  6. Created the first iteration of the Corsetiere Map, a brand locator so customers can support their local artisans (and makers can befriend each other!)

  7. Took my first business trip (a tour of Orchard Corset’s office and warehouse, to see how an OTR business is run). Trained their staff on corset construction, taking measurements and sizing

  8. Launched the Paper Doll Corset Designer game (a digital corset generator) with the help of graphic designer Christine Wickham (A Girl from Down Under) and video game designer J Artis (Hurgle Games)

  9. Travelled to England for the Oxford Conference of Corsetry (met a lot of new friends!)

  10. Had a car accident that left me with chronic injuries. I was forced to stop accepting custom orders, as I could no longer sew at length

  11. Visited the Timeless Trends factory in Thailand, where I designed the Hourglass corsets (short, regular and longline), plus prototypes for the hourglass overbust and the Gemini

  12. Attended NALACE (the North American Lingerie and Corset Symposium). Met more corset friends!

  13. Met with Ian & Corina Voller, and toured the century-old Vollers Corsets factory in Portsmouth, UK. Considered outsourcing my designs to a manufacturer

  14. Hit a fork in the road after learning I may never recover from my car injuries: continue with corsetry, or pivot and go into health and nutrition. Decided to go back to school, but also started talking to others about using corsets therapeutically FOR chronic injuries…

  15. Launched the ebook Solaced: 101 True Stories about Corsets, Well-Being, and Hope on Kindle.

  16. Released the Gemini corset, the first of the “Celestial Bodies” collection: several exclusive corset silhouettes under my designer label Lucia Corsetti. The Gemini is inspired by “twins”, offering conical rib or rounded rib options

  17. Graduated from nutrition school (it was a good year!)

  18. Launched the Corset Database

  19. Hit 100,000 subscribers on YouTube

  20. Released the original Libra corset. Inspired by “scales”, Libra is a “balanced” corset with ribs and hips of equal size

  21. Released the Gemini Longline by popular demand

  22. Launched the first LucyBots, free corset sizing calculators

  23. Revamped and republished Solaced, now in paperback

  24. Had a baby!! Never took mat leave (don’t be me)

  25. Became a registered Canadian importer, bringing TT Corsets to Canadian customers duty-free for the first time!

  26. Launched Corset Customizers with Timeless Trends, using KickFlip (a visual customization app)

  27. Launched the Libby (Libra Gentle) corset by popular demand

  28. After a whole year of research and development, a dataset of 42 plus-size customers and test fitters, finally released the Extended Size Collection with Timeless Trends, offering corset sizes up to 50″ (for natural waist sizes up to 62″)

  29. Released the UFR corset (Underbust, Funnel rib, Regular length). Created from all the positive and negative feedback on the original hourglass line, it’s an improved and polished version of the Hourglass regular. It puts the “fun” in funnel!

  30. Created Corset Busk Expander Panels, which allow for wider body fluctuations. Corsets are expensive, and expander panels can make too-small corsets functional

  31. Started collaborating with a surgeon to develop made-to-measure post-surgical supportive garments

  32. Launched the Ultimate CorsetBot, which replaces all the individual LucyBots and previews the shape of your corset gap!
