Description

NEW in 2020, we are now pleased to take special orders of the Libra corset in any currently available colorway! Please note that these corsets are Final Sale (they cannot be exchanged or returned under normal circumstances, since they will not be able to go back into stock as a part of a regular product line). However they are still covered under the manufacturing warranty (read more below).

The Libra corset is suitable for someone with an average torso length (it is shorter than the standard length hourglass!) and a relatively balanced figure who carries their weight equally on top and bottom. If you find that you have to lace the hourglass corset with a “V” shaped lacing gap, you may find that the Libra laces closed on you with room to spare!

This corset is Timeless Trends label, and is made to the same specifications as Timeless Trends.

Measurements:

The Libra corsets generally accommodate ribcage ~10 inches larger than the waist, and hips ~11 inches larger than the waist. For instance, a size 24″ corset would fit someone with a ribcage circumference of 34″ and high hip of 35″. However, as a mass-produced garment there is a natural variation in these corsets so the proportions may not be exact in every corset.

Lengthwise, the standard length underbust corsets are approximately:

10.5 inches long in the center front.

9.5 inches long at the princess seam.

9.5 inches long at the side seam.

12 inches long at the center back.

WHY IS IT CALLED THE LIBRA?
Libra represents symmetry and balance, and I named this corset the Libra as it’s an answer to those who have balanced measurements between their ribcage and hips. While doing research on OTR corsets, I noticed the following regarding most corsets with the same or similar measurements between the ribs and hips:
  • most only accommodate reductions up to ~7 inches
  • most are only available for long torso lengths (11 inches or more)
  • most are typically marketed towards gentlemen and they have a stereotypically masculine shape
Where the Gemini corset filled a “hole” in the corset industry that had previously neglected short-waisted and pear-shaped individuals who wanted the “longline” look and support, the Libra corset also serves a previously neglected body type: those who have a comparatively full ribcage or narrow hips, can accommodate waist reductions that result in a rib springs of 10 inches, and those who also may have a shorter torso. The Libra was created as an answer to all of these.
HOW IS THE LIBRA DIFFERENT?
The Libra is “shorter than a standard but longer than a waspie” (people with longer torsos can still wear the Libra and it will fit them like a cincher!). The Libra also accommodates more of a waist reduction compared to the hourglass longline corset with the hip ties closed (10″ rib spring and 11″ hip spring, as opposed to 6.5″ rib spring and 7″ hip spring).
The Libra is also more androgynous and neutral in its style and pattern, and this is deliberate — I wanted the Libra to be an option for everyone who has the proportions for it. The Libra was tested on many people of different sizes, heights, and genders to ensure that it suited a wide range of people.
The Libra’s silhouette also features a comfortable, gently rounded ribcage that you’ve come to know and love with Timeless Trends corsets.
WHO IS THE LIBRA GOOD FOR?
The Libra may be right for (do check your measurements before ordering though!):
  • athletic women who may have a muscular back, especially developed latissimus dorsi muscles (this would be suitable for waist training prior to fitness competitions)
  • nonbinary individuals who like to wear corsets but do not want a style that is overly feminine nor overly masculine
  • drag queens who would like a dramatic waist reduction and may not want to pad out their hips or have to wear an OTR corset upside down for it to fit better
  • anyone who has developed a barrel chest (congenitally or through swimming, playing a brass instrument, singing professionally, etc) and a comparatively narrow pelvis

STEALTH WITH COMFORT AND CONFIDENCE:
The Libra is also cut nearly straight across the top edge and gently rounded on the bottom edge, making it great for “stealthing” under clothing (no pesky points sticking out!). While the Libra does not feature a high back, I’ve improved my patterning techniques so the corset has more room in the side and back to contain the flesh where most of the “muffin” tends to occur. As always, the Libra has sandwiched bones to make the construction as smooth and lump-free as possible.

Sizing:

It is generally advised that corsets are ordered approximately 4-6 inches (10-12 cm) smaller than your natural waist – however if you would like to have your size verified before purchase, you may fill out the measurement form on this page. Please note that this sizing guide is only for the corsets sold on this website, and is not intended to replace a consultation (where external brands are discussed freely).

Contents:

This corset contains two core layers of cotton twill, and a fashion layer of your choosing!

All standard underbust corsets contain 20 spiral steel bones and 6 flat steel bones, plus a front fastening busk and back grommets/ laces. Libra corsets have a modesty placket by the busk, and 6 garter tabs instead of 4.

A back modesty panel is not included, but we do have separate, boned modesty panels for separate purchase.

Returns and Exchanges:

This corset is Final Sale – the corset will not be accepted for exchange or refund, but it is still under warranty for life – some wear is normal, but if something prematurely breaks from normal use, your corset is still eligible for exchange. Please see our TOS and Policies for more information.

I had been trying to find a corset with equal rib and hip measurements but the only ones I could find usually had a 1-2″ spring
I’m so glad I found this corset and it’s even better that Lucy is super nice :)

Lucy was very quickly able to help me and recommended this corset to me to fit my measurements. It came and it fits me perfectly! It came much faster than I would except and it is absolutely beautiful :)

  2. Lisa Klonikowski (verified owner)

Lucy is amazing! My first Libra order was a special order, so I was taking a leap of faith in that they would fit my measurements, as there’s really no returning – it turned out flawlessly! I even ordered a colourway that wasn’t available on the LucyCorsetry website, seeing it only on the company’s website, and she made it happen! Before I ordered I was in communications with her to check that the fabric was available. Love supporting her – you can’t go wrong!

Everything is fast, flawless, and it feels very personal-friendly when ordering!

  3. J.A. (verified owner)

If you can fit the silhouette of the Libra, but get disappointed at the lack of colour ways, this option is for you! I’ve ordered many colourway of the Libra and Lucy was very prompt in keeping me updated when it came to potential problems with whatever colourway I chose (for example, polyester thread on a dyeable white cotton colourway).

Service is quick, prompt, and the Libra is an absolutely divine silhouette for those wanting to achieve a hourglass figure when corseted, but unable to so with many off-the-rack offerings due to a larger rib spring.
