While many clients can get away with standard-sized corsets, it’s not a realistic case of one-size-fits-all. What if you’re very tall, very short-waisted, or very pear-shaped? What if you 100% know that no OTR will fit you correctly, but you’re still looking for an inexpensive gateway corset that will fit you properly? Here are a few makers that offer custom, semi-custom, and made-to-measure corsets for $200 or less.
Update: Please note that a few corsets are a smidge above the $200 USD mark. I originally made this gallery in 2013; due to inflation alone, this would convert to $227 USD now in 2021. However, for the sake of those on a strict budget, I have tried to keep all corsets in this list under $220.
*Caveat emptor: In many cases, you get what you pay for. These corsets are made-to-measure, but this does not necessarily imply that all corsets in this list are suitable for waist training/ daily wear. Many fledgling corsetieres will also underprice their work to practice their skills, build their client base quickly, and gain a foothold in the industry — but in many situations, these prices are not sustainable to the maker — for this reason, this gallery is especially subject to change; it’s the nature of business that as demand rises for a product, prices increase as well.
Olga of Decadent Designs is a Canadian designer who offers closed-front overbusts and underbust corsets in her Toronto-based studio. She is experienced in working with mesh & lace, PVC, brocade, and taffeta. These are semi-made-to-measure corsets based on your bust/underbust, waist, and hip measurements, but you are able to message her if other special considerations may need to be made (e.g. if you need changes to the length, etc).
Polina Vakhliovska-Kapinos is a Ukrainian designer and the founder of CorsetPVShop. She offers made-to-measure corsets in 100% cotton or in several colors of mesh for around $150 USD and free worldwide shipping. She asks her clients for 6 different points of measurements for a close fit. While her corsets don’t feature a front busk, she does use all steel boning.
Crash Art Corsetry, based in Katowice Poland, has a highly enthusiastic following on Facebook with her low-priced corsets that are not only fully made-to-measure, but each one is completely one-of-a-kind as she hand paints each one with the theme of your choosing. She is able to do anything from this simple and elegant rose theme, to entire recreations of famous paintings by Mucha and others — click through to see her gallery!
Mariia (MaryWitchCorset) creates stunning and lightweight corsets made from your choice of her collection of vintage Ukrainian scarves, carefully draped over a mesh corset base for both a stunning finish and a breezy feel. She can make corsets in sizes 18″ through 40″, and she asks for 11 body measurements for a perfect fit.
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of The Court of the Emerald Queen and her incredibly curvy, lightweight, and comfortable ribbon corsets! But to make matters even sweeter, her corsets are an absolute steal as her basic ribbon cinchers or simple cotton underbust corsets start at only $206 USD.
Shiku Seishiro is a cosplayer that not only designs for other costumers, but she also has knowledge in patterning and creating custom corsets. Whether you need a corset to compliment your next cosplay, or just an everyday corset, her made-to-measure underbust corsets start at $200 and her overbusts start at $250.
Krista Olafsen is based out of Los Angeles, California, and she has a shop where she offers gorgeous curvaceous underbusts with hip gores for $200 (pictured above) in your choice of fabric, as well as a choice in closed-front, front-lacing, or busk closure. Some of her simple Victorian reproduction overbusts start at $200 as well if you’re in need of bust support.
Heavenly Corsets has two different lines of corsets: standard-spec (for occasional use and special events) and waist-training (for 23/7 tightlacing and intense wear). Elle’s made-to-measure standard-spec underbust corsets are suited for 4″ reductions and available in hourglass or wasp-waist silhouettes, which start at $217 USD.
Valentina Rozhkova of Atelier Vintage Rose (St. Petersburg, Russia) creates lovely historical reproduction corsets in the high $200s, but she also offers a few contemporary corsets like this lovely made-to-measure Italian brocade longline underbust for just $207 USD. She works off 5 body measurements for this particular corset. Other listings in her $200-and-under range include mesh stealthing underbusts, and short Regency stays (jumps), as well as a smattering of ready-to-ship corset samples.
Tatyana Stetsina (Statnaia Corsets, Ukraine) has found her niche in stealthing corsets, or sometimes called lingerie corsets – she offers made-to-measure closed front corsets in satin (shown above) or mesh, with underbusts starting at $200 USD and cupped overbusts starting at $300 USD, with free shipping. Tatyana says that she typically patterns her corset to give a 10% waist reduction and is comfortable making corsets in any waist size up to 47 inches (120cm) closed waist, but if you’re in need of a larger size or something different, she says you are welcome to message her.
Rowena Collins from Glastonbury, UK is the talent behind Hedonistic Costumes – her heavily boned and cleanly-finished tabbed stays start at just $210 USD for closed front stays or front-lacing stays. The base price is with cream calico linen, but she offers a range of brightly-colored linen fabrics (like the cotton-candy pink shown here) for a modest markup.
Rose of Nocturnal Nostalgia says that her corset designs are inspired by a combination of Victorian, Edwardian, and modern Gothic influences. She is one of the few makers on this list that offers a modern overbust corset for under $200 USD. This corset is semi-made-to-measure, based on a 3-point measurement system (your bust, waist, and hip circumference) however it’s encouraged that you message Rose if you need changes to the length or any other requests.
Maria Vozisova (Vozisova Corsets) is a corsetiere from Kirov, Russia, specializing in historical reproduction corsets and underpinnings. Her Regency jumps, short stays, and modern lingerie (mesh) underbusts all start at under $200, and Victorian demibust and overbust pieces start at around $250.
Meschantes Corsetry‘s underbust corsets range from $160 – $195 starting price, and are made-to-measure in your choice of one of hundreds of different fabrics/colors. Please note that I have linked you to their Etsy store, which many consumers say has a better track record than their website – but they stock mostly standard-sized corsets. So be sure that you go for “made-to-measure” or “custom” and not the listings that just say “ready-to-wear” or “in your size”.
Palina of Corsetry & Romance, (Poland) creates stunning corsets at a jaw-dropping price, starting at only $90 with modest markups for different fabrics and embellishments. The corset featured above is custom-fit, finished in dupioni silk with black lace appliqué, and also includes a floating modesty panel, front modesty placket and storage bag – for only $120 USD plus shipping – and overbusts start at $160. For such a good deal, I doubt these prices will stay so low for very long! She has been moved to the honorable mentions section at this time as she is currently on hiatus from taking corset commissions to focus on a more recent passion for making mid-century dresses made from lush natural fibers like silk, wool and linen.
SnowBlack Corsets from Poland made beautiful made-to-measure underbust corsets starting at only $190. Shown here in black with painstakingly tidy red contrast stitching, the corded, gored hips are especially good for controlling hip-wrinkles and offers a dramatic, wide hip spring. Marta stopped making corsets in 2022.
Haizea Couture Underbust CorsetHaizea Couture (from San Sebastian, Spain) is in this list as an honorable mention as her prices for made-to-measure corsets are now above the $200 USD pricepoint (and I am so happy for her success!) however she has many sample corsets in her Etsy shop that are in the $150 range and a variety of sizes that it would be a disservice to omit her from this gallery completely.
*Please note that I have not personally tried every corset brand in this list, nor do I necessarily endorse every company in these guided galleries. This is for informational purposes only; please email any of the above makers to learn more about their made-to-measure corsets. Tiddly links are Etsy affiliate links, which help the galleries remain free for everyone.
