Corsets for Men

Fakir Musafar as “The Perfect Gentleman”, 1959. This photo has inspired many other gentlemen to consider waist training. Click through to learn more about Fakir.

Gentlemen wear corsets too, but sometimes it can be difficult to find makers who cater to cinching down the waist while maintaining a masculine physique. The following corsetiers and businesses in this gallery are experienced in making masculine corsets. (There are quite a lot of them actually, so I won’t be writing much in this post.)

All of the makers below either offer multiple styles of men’s corsets, or they can modify their standard corset patterns to fit masculine proportions. I would highly recommend choosing the custom-fit options (supporting small independent designers, in addition to obtaining a perfect fit) over the ready-to-wear options, but both are included for the sake of completion. Click on any of the photos to take you to the website/ social media of each maker to learn more.

*If you are considering a feminizing corset, I have a separate article for feminine corsets for cross-dressers or trans women.*

  1. Hi! I’m a nonbinary AFAB person with a larger bust. I have garbage posture, fibromyalgia, and hypermobility that I strongly suspect is EDS. I have been wearing standard GC2B binders, but I was wondering if anyone out there has made or might be willing to attempt making a corset that would serve the purpose of making my silhouette look more androgynous while taking into account the fact that I still have significant breast tissue that I’d want to redistribute if I’m corseting underneath my clothes? It would be nice to have a combination of binding and back support that wasn’t uncomfortable instead of having to choose. I’m not overly concerned with giving the illusion of having a smaller waist, although if that is possible, I would consider it. Thanks so much for all your resources!

    1. Hi Batshua, there have been corsets made to replace a binder and create a more square-shouldered silhouette (one of the stories in my book Solaced goes into detail about this, however the corsetiere who designed it didn’t want their identity to be revealed). Something like the Arnold by the Ardent Collection, or better yet any of the corset vests / waistcoats, should be able to provide both support and binding.

  2. Hey!

Trans guy trying out my first corset here. One thing that made finding something workable RTW a challenge is that the things that are set by hormones—more/denser muscle, less hip fat, more belly fat—are what people expect for “men’s” build but my skeletal proportions mostly got set by first puberty (narrower ribcage) and I am not at all looking for an exaggerated hourglass figure like a lot of the “women’s corsets” are cut for (been there, done that, not for me). This seems to be an extremely small niche but if you happen to run across masculine corsets with a smaller rib spring it might be useful to note that for folks going this direction.

If anyone else is looking, I ended up with the plus size Orchard Corset CS-701 longline. It is a surprisingly good fit but still most comfortable closing fully at the top and with a 2-3 inches at the bottom. Fits almost perfectly in the rib and hip worn upside down but I prefer the straight cut across the top. Ah well. I’ll probably get something custom one of these days.

Thanks for putting such a comprehensive resource out there! Really great site.

    1. Hey there, wanted to thank you for talking about how you feel about the Orchard Corset. I’m also a trans man, and I’ve been looking for a non-hourglass corset cause however much I do like the aesthetic of those, I absolutely can’t handle the level of dysphoria that comes with it.
Reading Lucy’s article (which is such a well-written and helpful resource) I did feel drawn to the brand you talked about, but it’s often challenging to find fitting garments online, especially as trans people.
So yea, it was really interesting to read your review of it, and I do hope I can get my hands on one of those in the future !
Hope y’all corsets enjoyers are having a nice day.

      1. Glad that helped! For more context on the corset vs my measurements, I carry a lot of my bulk in my belly. Underbust and high hip are pretty similar in size, largest part of my waist has 2-3” more but I have enough vertical distance in my waist and it’s squishy enough to compress relatively easily. I sized down on a friend’s advice and I’m glad I did. If you’re shorter in the torso you may not want the longline version. I would not go longer myself.

Also FYI on Orchard specifically, the lacing it comes with is a bit funky, with the loops higher than the waist. I re-laced it with “inverted bunny ears” closer to the actual waist and now it feels surprisingly better and I’m actually able to lace the back more parallel. Good luck and enjoy! I’m still very happy with this one as a starting point.

  3. Hi Lucy.

As said before, apologies if this is an old thread, but I have a question that I hope you might be able to answer.

With a broad chest, and a narrower waist, when lacing, should I still aim for parallel grommets, which creates discomfort at the chest. Or a more conical lacing, which creates an equal cinch throughout?

    1. Hi Shane, it’s more important that you are comfortable, even if it means not having a perfectly parallel lacing gap. If a corset is uncomfortable with a parallel gap, all it means is that it probably wasn’t custom made for you. But as long as the steels are not twisting or warping, wearing a corset with a comfortable “V” or an “A” shaped gap will not damage the corset and should not harm you. I have an article about lacing gaps which you can read here.

      1. Hi Lucy, further to Shane’s question of November 25th my experience with the 28″ LIBRA corset I bought from you has been positive; I lace it fully closed top to bottom and it is very comfortable. My natural measurements are:
Chest 38″, waist 33″ and hips 37″. The corset sits snug on chest and waist and is very slightly loose on hips.

    2. Thank U Lucy
I have bought my corset from orchardcorset the cs305 32″ i’m male i love 2 wear it very much.
Now i readed ur story im more interested in mens corsetery.

  4. Hello
Is this page evan still used anymore?

    1. Hi Arthur, my pages get cleaned up usually once a year. If you have any questions you’re welcome to ask!

  5. Hi I am looking for a corset to wear under my clothes to reshape my waist line, something that I can put on and off easily. Which one do you carry would best fit the bill?

    1. Hi Nicolas, a lot of these corset makers on this page are willing to create a corset custom to your measurements so the fit is less of a concern, and it’s more who is more local to you or fits your budget and personal aesthetic. If you’re looking for OTR specifically, I do have a number of corsets in Corset Database that can help narrow down your search based on your body measurements, budget, etc. I also have a consultation service if you need individualized help!

  6. I need a support for my stomach due to a hernia. I am a large man with a 46 inch waist aged 78 but I like do a lot of walking.

    1. Hello Philip, thanks for your comment. I have a full measuring tutorial and contact form on this page, and I’d be happy to help you choose a corset that might be able to help. I’m guessing you would be a size 38″ or 40″ but we will see based on your ribcage and hip measurements, and your torso length. Best wishes!

  7. I have resorted to modifying corsets to work for me, or sizing up or down, but getting one already made to fit would be great. If I can get out more this year, I may need a white corset for a particular look.

  8. Hello my name’s Josh.

I was wondering, does waist training effect the diaphragm? And also, do you happen to know if it can negatively impact one’s ability to sing? I’m not foolish enough to sing while wearing a corset, it’s just a general inquiry.

I love to sing! And so, I don’t want anything to compromise my singing capacity.

    1. Hi Josh, I have another article all about breathing in one’s corset, here!

      1. Thanks Lucy!
        Someday if I’m feeling experimental.

        1. I know this is over a year old and you’re unlikely to see this again. But on the off chance you do, or others are interested, Victorian opera singers wore corsets and were able to belt out songs loud enough to fill a theater with no amplification (since microphones hadn’t been invented yet!).
Singing in a corset actually makes it easier to feel what your diaphragm is doing and sort of gives you something to push against.
As for modern singers, I know of plenty within metal genres who wear corsets whilst performing on stage. So its certainly very possible even for people today who haven’t grown up wearing them like the Victorians did. :)

          1. 100% true–I’m a singer and I find that I’m actually louder when I’m corseted because of that extra support :)

  9. Thank you for sharing this information! I have some experience sewing and I’m now researching about corset making to make a corset for me. It’s gonna be for a cosplay, but I also plan to use it underneath other cosplays where it wouldn’t be seen.
I don’t want to achieve a female figure, I just have narrow shoulders and large hips (with hips I mean the area right below the waist, I’m not sure if I can call it hips) and I want more of a “V” shape. I’m focusing on shoulders and back at the gym, but I was wonderind if it would be possible to lose some inches on my hips with corset (even when I’m not using one)! It’s not for the waist, because I kinda have a “small” waist for a guy, I practiced bellydance for some years and I was super fat so when I lose weight I start to get this “female” waist which I don’t like, especially because it makes my hips look wider. Do you think that’s possible, or my hip bones (iliac crest?) wouldn’t let it work?

    1. Hi Lucas, I’m glad you liked the gallery! Unfortunately there’s no real way to reduce your hips, as that’s determined by the width of the pelvis. I talk about it in more detail in this article.

      1. Thank you so much for replying and for this other article!!! I had no idea other people wanted to do the same! haha Once I make my first corset I’ll be back here to show the result :)

  10. For all of my life I have wanted to be measured for a corset. A corset similar to a twilfit laced back model. I am male but wear directoire knickers for comfort. I have no interest whatsoever in becoming female but to wear tightly laced corsets does excite me greatly. Is there anywhere in the UK that I could go to get measured, and fitted. I want to be corseted for the rest of my life,I am even prepared to sleep to get my waist size down quickly, so clearly I am serious about it. When I was young I used to buy ladies corsets but it was silly as I was the wrong shape.

    1. Hello David, there are over 50 corset makers in the UK for you to choose from! The makers in this gallery who are in the UK include Heavenly Corsets, Orchid Corsetry, Axfords Corsets, C&S Corsets, Jem Corsets, and one other I know that I need to add at some point, Sew Curvy Corsetry also makes corsets for men. Those are good places to start!
