Corset dresses are highly specialized garments, which can be used for foundation under other dresses (such as those that Puimond provides for other designers to “build upon”), for weddings, or for clubbing / other fun events. They can act like combination shapewear, supporting the bustline and allowing the use of strapless dresses overtop (rather than using a strapless bra), cinching in the waist (instead of using a cincher), and smoothing over the hips (in lieu of a girdle).
Searching “corset dresses” on Google tends to yield poor results because many clothing lines simply offer dresses with plastic boned bodices, or corsets and skirts as separate pieces. Genuine corset dresses are not always easy to find, but they come in several variations which I’ll try to cover in this gallery.
*Corset makers, if you have made a corset dress and would like your work showcased in this gallery, please email me a photo of your best work and include a 1-sentence description and website or shop URL. Safe-for-work photos are preferred! Thank you!

Hi Pam, unfortunately the arms and legs cannot be compressed smaller the same way the waist does with corsets – it will only cut off circulation to your limbs and cause issues.
Hi Pam, unfortunately there is no set amount of time that will guarantee when you’ll see results – but most people, if they’re diligent and also change other areas of their lifestyle, do start to see changes within 3-6 months. I have a video and article about it here.
i am in love with the Victorian era! Everything about it is amazing (the waists, dresses, houses, etc) and this list really is what i am looking for! And the corsets on this site as well! I am naturally curvy already but love showing it off so these lists really helped me with that. Thank you!
Frogive my ignorance, but do the bpnes go all the way down , they’re supstituted with something else, or there arent any at all? can u sit and move comfortably in this?
Hi Filip, this heavily depends on the corset maker, and your preferences if you want to commission a piece like this. Some of these corsets, like the full-skirted corset dress by Contessa Gothique, are boned similarly to a regular overbust corset so you’re able to walk, move and sit comfortably in it. Other pieces like the Sparklewren piece are said to not be a piece for sitting as it’s boned down to the knee. Another style option would be similar to 19teens “Titanic” era corsets which are quite long and fitted on the thigh, but are not boned and don’t have a busk for the full length which allows the wearer to sit.
The green corset dress co-designed by Ziad Ghanem was made by the corsetiere Ian Frazer Wallace who was the after-dinner speaker at the Oxford Conference of Corsetry 2013. It was a pleasure to meet him and it will be great to see him again this year as he’s returning as an attendee.
I just feel its worth a mention since its so often missed who is the maker behind a designer’s work when its something for the runway. I’d seen this dress and never heard of Ian until the conference and it felt wrong somehow for his work to be seen and yet for him to be hidden in the shadows. The inspiration for the lace up the front to pull for quick removal came from stripper pants which worked in the same way. XD

Hi Pam, unfortunately the arms and legs cannot be compressed smaller the same way the waist does with corsets – it will only cut off circulation to your limbs and cause issues.
I would like to train my lower tummy without surgery will a corset trainer do this? What is the time frame to see results

Check out Paula Fernandes, a singer from Brazil who loves corset dresses:

That gold one is insane, and I reeeeally want to know who makes them. Any Brazilian readers out there who might know??
She also wears regular corsets, both over and under her clothes.

I don’t consider the Beyoncé one as corset dress: it looks more like a long-line corset, with heavy embellishment that make it look like a mini-dress.
You can also find interesting corset dresses in Atelier Sylphe’s work, like this one: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=286879121345828&set=a.201623196538088.48467.201133883253686&type=3&src=https%3A%2F%2Ffbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net%2Fhphotos-ak-prn1%2Ft31.0-8%2F334346_286879121345828_172610500_o.jpg&smallsrc=https%3A%2F%2Ffbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net%2Fhphotos-ak-frc3%2Ft1.0-9%2F391084_286879121345828_172610500_n.jpg&size=1536%2C2048

Thanks Lexa, I’ve edited the caption to give Ian Frazer Wallace credit as well.
