Hi everyone!

I just want to put it out there that I really appreciate each and every one of you. <3 The friends that I’ve made online these past couple years have been more supportive than many of my “proximal” friends at times, and I often feel like the luckiest girl in the world. It’s kind of funny how there can be a flux in mentality among people who’ve never met or talked to one another – but this week I’ve received several messages essentially saying “You’re famous!”

Am I?

I’m still just your (hopefully) lovable, (hopefully) relatable goofball who happens to love corsets.

Why I, out of thousands of capable corset enthusiasts and experts, have been (relatively) plucked out of obscurity is beyond me – yet I’m glad to still be a small Youtube partner because I feel that I don’t have the same amount/kinds of grief and stress that larger partners have. As much as I can gripe about people spreading misinformation about corsetry or leaving downright cold-hearted comments on my social platforms, I have to admit that my “cross” is relatively easy to bear due to the small and specialized niche.

I’ve been receiving suggestions from many different people to branch out my channel in other ways – either focusing more on the mainstream beauty side of things, with hair and makeup tutorials, or to create more visually ‘interesting’ videos by modeling lingerie, both with the promise that my channel will explode with new popularity (or the threat that I will be surpassed by others and forgotten).

I can safely say that at this point, I am quite happy with the state of my channel and producing corsetry-focused videos with the occasional hair vid, and have no desire to veer from this – even if it means being left in the dust. There is nothing in this life – no deals that I can make or changes I create – that can guarantee my security here on the internet and I’m cool with this. There are a huge number of things that could cause my corseting adventures to come to an abrupt end – my work schedule could change; my financial situation could change; I could run into health problems that prevents me from corseting (I would never condone the unsafe use of corsets on myself or anyone else); or even Youtube could become an obsolete video hosting site someday. Or maybe winds of change will blow, and ebb-and-flow of interests will dictate that I’ll someday close this chapter of my life and open a new one. Humans are such fickle creatures.

Rest assured I am not planning for any of this to happen in the immediate future, but because life is unpredictable and “fame” (no matter how loose the term) is even more fleeting, I am appreciating my fortunate situation and the love and support I receive every step of the way. I hope to never let my fellow lacers/hair-growers/ranchers think I’ve taken them for granted for one second. Furthermore, although I am human and make mistakes, I pray that I will never give detrimental advice. Still, it is important to note that (especially when it comes to the internet) one should take ALL information with a grain of salt, and weigh it against their own intuition before accepting it as truth. This goes for my information as well – it is here at your disposal, for you to accept or reject.

It’s argued that it’s the temporary nature of life that gives it its beauty and sentiment, and that’s also how I feel about my place here. Like I said before, half a dozen very sweet people have placed me on a pedestal this week – but I’ve won no awards, and I don’t really consider myself to have drastically changed the world of corseting, so I’m not sure what brought this on or why I’m being so sentimental about it – but I have put my heart into my channel and this blog, and deeply appreciate that a few people have acknowledged this passion. At this moment, I love and appreciate every person and every experience that has brought me to this point in my life.

So… I guess all this is really just to say, “Thanks.”

:*

Hi Lucy; be very carefull before entering into a contractual relationship with QVC. I strongly recommend consulting with a contract law attorney before commiting to anything. QVC is a good company and will fulfill their obligations however, your obligations can escalate if the product is good (and your sare).

Don’t ever steer away from corset videos. It’s not only what you are known for, it’s the reason you’re awesome. You have the same passions many others have, and you have the advantage of getting your message out there on the platform that you already use. I think there are plenty of beauty videos out there, we need more corsetry videos. I want to make my own, mostly sharing my own story. But you have such a great niche right here. I’m very excited to see what comes next.

We thank you too, Lucy. ;)

Thank you Michelle! It’s been so wonderful chatting with you as of late and I feel lucky to have such great people in my life. :) I hope, someday when you’re comfortable, that you do get to be more vocal in the corset community. ^_^

Hi Annette! This is the first I’ve heard of QVC – I’ve just checked out their website and they only ship within the US. But I will check with them and see if they still accept Canadian-based sellers. Thank you for the tip! :)

Hi Lucy, you enjoy what you do, your passions have a venue of expression. Your attitude is about it all is a healthy one. To have the chance to express one’s self, one’s passions as well as ones hopes and dreams and to be accepted is a great gift in life. The negative comments and the allure to have your ego expanded in an unhealthy way and to resist that and attacking in an overt manor is part of the struggle that makes it a joy to look upon being satisfied of a job and a joy that was well done.:) (Sent the last comment from my kindle and missed a few words.)

Judy, thank you so much for your continued friendship and support! I consider myself very fortunate to have people like you be there for me each step of the way, offering advice or just a smile. :) I truly have the best team of cheerleaders. :)

Lucy in all honesty I can’t add anyting to that which these three wonderful Women have said. I feel totally the same as they do. Thank YOU for sharing and educating us.

    *hugs* Selina

Makeup and lingerie? Your channel is great as-is! After having watched all of your videos (in reverse order), I see how far you’ve come in both corsetry and as a vlogger. Modelling lingerie is going to attract a type of viewer that I don’t think you’re interested in. A shallow audience to say the least. And while we all appreciate the beauty of corseting, I know you are not in this for views alone. Stick to what you love! You’re awesome. Thank you so much for your channel and all the information involved. You do so much for your viewers, spend so much time (and money on corsets you don’t even necessarily want) to give us reviews and information. I couldn’t even imagine doing what you do.

Thank you Angela! I really love making educational videos and the occasional silliness. And yes if I were only here for the views, I would have branched out into makeup and such a LONG time ago! Where my channel is right now; it’s a comfortable spot where anyone can find me if they’re searching Youtube for corsets, but if they’re not interested in corsets then they don’t find me – there are so many big Youtubers whose videos show up in the side column as related content to what I’m watching, when in reality it has nothing to do with the topic I’m watching – that doesn’t happen with my videos and I’m actually a bit relieved about this. :)
It’s true I’ve spent a huge amount of time and money on this channel – MUCH more than I’ve been able to make back. But it’s a labour of love. ^_^

You’re a wonderful person that deserves such a pedestal. My favorite video of yours is your understanding depression video and it’s made me think of sadness differently and under the influence of a close friend of mine, have seen finer things and become even more driven to cleanse my mind of any darkness I may have in it. Knowing that you’re alive, well and doing beautifully even after a relationship ended horribly (tip of the iceberg), it makes me think that if this love affair I’m currently in fails (despite it being the greatest thing to have happened to me), your video and it’s content will be the first thing I’ll turn to. Your corsetry and your awesome hair videos is the icing on an already delicious cake. ….figuratively not literally :P

    • bishonenrancher says:

Aw Mina! I’m so glad that depression video has been able to speak to you – it came from the heart. I saw that photo of the kintsukuroi making its way around Facebook and it’s really a great philosophy: all the struggles we experience in life makes us stronger and more beautiful in the end. And mmmmm…. cake, haha! :p

    • Cristy says:

Oh, wow. I had missed the understanding depression video. You’re right, it’s amazing! Very well done. I have suffered from depression and known someone who got into drugs because of depression and eventually lost her life to overdose. I admire Lucy more than ever after watching that video, thanks for mentioning it!

I think it’s all of us that should be thanking you! You give us so much knowledge, entertainment, and feed our corset addictions (or fascination) vicariously even when we are too broke or sick to it ourselves! You give us the confidence to try corsets when we’ve been too afraid to before. Your charm, passion, knowledge, friendliness, and kindness bring us back time and again with enthusiasm for more! I love your informational videos, reviews, OOTD vids, and have been surprised to find I even love the hair videos! Your classy responses to mean or uninformed people is admirable. I hope to see many more videos from you for a long time to come. If you had to stop for whatever reason it would feel like losing a friend and mentor. So, thank YOU!

Lucy, you are where you are right now because of a winning compilation of factors. You are smart, educated, detail oriented, beautiful, personable, charming, knowledgeable and science/fact based. You deserve to be here, on the top of the corset community. More over, you are just damn good person with a common good sense (something in and of itself rather rare today). So take it for what it’s worth, and know that we are all here to support you and that we are so very grateful for all of your efforts and for all of the trouble you’ve put yourself through to compile this database of reputable knowledge for us. Every time someone asks me about corseting I send them to your channel and will continue to do so. Come what may, you have made a tremendous contribution and should be rightfully proud of yourself as we all are of you and our corseting passion. Here goes a sincere thank you and best wishes for the future however long or short lived no matter, because such is the nature of things. Life is cyclical and dynamic. If/when it’s time for you to move on I’m sure you will do just as much (if not more) in your next venue :)
